1. Introduction

SharePoint Wiki Redirect provides an easy way to manage different versions of wiki pages and control which version is displayed by default.

2. How to Use SharePoint Wiki Redirect

A complete guide is included in the Tutorial below. Please read it carefully prior to using SharePoint Wiki Redirect. You can refer to the Installation Instructions and FAQ if you have any questions regarding using SharePoint Wiki Redirect.

See below for an example of how to use SharePoint Wiki Redirect:

In the Wiki Page Library, click on “Document Library Settings” in the Settings menu of your Wiki list.

On the settings page, click "Wiki Redirect settings".

On the "Wiki Redirect Settings" page, you can configure the default page and version of a wiki page that will be displayed once you click on a list item in the view you select from which to redirect. In other views you do not select to redirect, the configuration of “Default Page” and “Default Version” does not work.

For example, if you selected “All Pages” and "Recent Changes" as views from which to redirect, and selected "Wiki Page" as your default page and "Latest Version" as the default version, so the most recently edited version of the wiki page will be displayed when you click a list item in the view “All Pages” and "Recent Changes".

Clicking on the list item "How to use this wiki library" displays the latest version of this page (see below):

If you select "Wiki Page" as your default page and "Current Approved Version (Published Version)" as the default version, the most recent published/approved version will be displayed by default (note that the most recent published version might not be the most recently edited version).

Remember that if you selected "Require content approval for submitted items" on the Version Settings page, you will be directed to the current approved version of a wiki page when you click on an item. Otherwise, you will be directed to the most recent published version of the wiki page.

If you selected "All Pages" and "Recent Changes" as views from which to redirect, and selected "History Page" as your default page and “Latest Version” as the default version, the version history page with the latest version of the wiki page will be displayed by default when you click an item in the view "All Pages" and "Recent Changes", All previous versions of the wiki page will appear in a clickable list in a column on the left (see below):

If you selected "All Pages" and "Recent Changes" as views from which to redirect, and selected "History Page" as your default page and "Current Approved Version (Published Version)" as the default version, the version history page with the most recent published version of the wiki will be displayed by default. All other versions (both previous and subsequent) will appear in a clickable list in a column on the left (see below):
