When setting view permissions for users, there are several ways to specify users, such as specifying users or groups in the people picker, selecting Person or Group columns. Column/View Permission provides an option to set view permission for all site collection users (stored in the user information list) all at once, instead of specifying them one by one. When a view permission is designed to apply to all site collection users, it will be very useful. By selecting All Users option, all site collection users will be restricted from accessing the hidden view or modifying the existing views.
This is what looks like when any site collection user (Mark Iverson here) tries to view the Absence Request List. Actually, there are three views (All Requests, Department Requests and My Requests) in the list. But the other two views are hidden from all site collection users, so Mark Iverson can only see My Requests view
And create three views in the Absence Request List, named as All Requests, Department Requests and My Requests.
Download the trial version of Column/View Permission, and install it to your SharePoint server.
Navigate to the Staff List prepared above, click List, then click Column/View Permission in Settings group, and then click Manage View Permission.
In the View Permission Settings page, click Add Permission Part to create a new permission part (we call a permission configuration as a permission part), specify a unique name for it.
In Include Users section, select All Users option in the Select Users/Groups part as following, which means that all site collection users (stored in the user information list) will be affected by the view permission settings.
The site collection contains these users.
In Permission Settings section, select Disable create view (both public and personal) option in Create View Permission part.
Then set the Access Type for All Requests, Department Requests and [Personal View] views as Hidden.
Then, click OK to save all settings for this permission part.
Log in to SharePoint as a site collection user Mark Iverson, and navigate to the Absence Request List .
Mark Iverson cannot see the All Requests and Department Requests views, but can see My Requests view.
And the Create View option is disabled for Mark Iverson.
